WHAT DOES THE MODERN EMPLOYER BRAND LOOK LIKE?

The importance of building a Modern Employer Brand is immeasurable. Company culture, employee and customer satisfaction have never been more imperative than it is today. But how ??

We’ve summarised some key points on how to ensure that your Modern Employer Brand is established and that quality candidates contact YOU with employment enquiries.

1. Involve your staff in recruiting

If you have a job opening and are looking for the perfect fit, ask your staff if they know of any suitable candidates. They will (usually) know if their suggested contact will suit the team and company culture. They’ll know the kind of people they’re keen on working with.

2. Meet candidates before going through their CV

It may seem like you’re doing it backwards but meeting someone, briefly chatting with them and opening their CV in the interview for the first time, will remove the tendency to judge a candidate too quickly. The interview could display a potential employee’s teachable nature and drive for success more clearly than a CV ever will.

3. Ensure your current team is happy

This is a biggie. How your employees feel about working for you will almost always be known to those closest to them. They are a vital part of your Modern Employer Branding. Encourage them to communicate how awesome it to work for your company to others via word-of-mouth or Social Media.

4. Get with the tech

Its easier to reach potential employees on a social media platform than it is via job sites or free ads.

LinkedIn is your best friend when it comes to recruiting. Maintain your social media accounts and develop a strategy. Have employee, customer and brand-centric posts, each of which will reach various audiences. Get creative or employ a Social Media Manager who can tick all those boxes.

5. Be authentic with your brand

Don’t play pretend. Be real. If your company is portrayed as a shiny red apple, yet filled with worms destroying it from within – address it!

Selling a dream to potential employees and the ugly truth revealing itself shortly thereafter is a sure way to destroy your modern employer brand before you’ve started building it.

Modern Employer Branding is powerful.

As the saying goes “with great power comes great responsibility”. Take ownership of that.

Lay a solid foundation WITHIN your company before spreading your excellence out there for the world (and perfect candidates) to see.
